Happy Thanksgiving

Hope you all have a safe and happy Thanksgiving.  My daughter is cooking today but I'm bringing my Orange Cranberry Sauce and Sweet Potato Biscuits.  And I couldn't resist the yummy Pumpkin Orange Cake Rolls that Costco was sampling the other day when I was shopping. 

She has a bacon themed dinner planned, not sure what the means but will be happy to find out.  Even drinks made with bacon flavored vodka (?). 

Thought I would take this opportunity to post some of my newest work.  I've been playing around with some of the flower photos I took this summer.   Here's some samples and one finished and framed piece looking for a wall to adorn.

My Grandsons Question

My Grandson ask me recently what I do all day.  Now that I'm retired and not working, I feel I don't have to do anything if I choose.   But I realize my family worries about me.  Use it or loose it theory. I just want to do my art, create new things, recycle old. Take nature hikes with my pup, take photos, peruse thrift stores for treasures to doodle.  Enjoy nature, she has so much to share, smells, sounds,  colors its overwhelming at times and I am fortunate to live in the beautiful Northwest where greens are greenest.  We have the ocean a couple hours away,  and snow capped mountains in the other direction.   My daughters live in the area,  and my grandsons are only a couple of miles down the road.  So I get to see as many of their sporting events I can get to.  Football season is especially fun, all three boys play, with my oldest off to college in the fall to play football at EWU .  I get to tag along with my oldest daughter on vacations and ski trips, although

Social Media

UGH!!!  Social Media will be my undoing.  I recently took a class on how to use social media to help market my art.  So I've been making changes, searching groups, put myself out there more.  Now I need to double the time I scan thru my FB pages and discovered that it was worth while posting more frequently to Instagram .  Twitter gets caught in the middle somewhere.  And then there is Pinterest , my Etsy shop and this blog.   So for starters I thought I needed to add all the social media icons to my blog but couldn't find any I liked so doodled my own. Fun project put the trick was getting them posted.  Spent a day trying to figure out how to get them the size they needed to be to line up.   Got a little lesson in HTML.  But persevered and as you can see they are neatly in a row and the background is transparent.  You can find just about anything you need to know how to do on You Tube.  Also found a great little online program that will instantly turn your backgroun

Fort Vancouver Heritage Garden Series

I've been working on a series of photos I took last August in the Heritage Gardens at Fort Vancouver.  Late August is always my favorite time to walk thru the gardens, last year they weren't as lush as previous years,  the 115 degree temp in the summer did a lot of damage to the gardens in our area.  But there were still some hardy varieties that were as pretty in bloom as always.   I like to walk around the Fort often.  Here are some pics I doodled in the past from the Fort and Officers Row.    Fort Vancouver National Historic Site.
