Where am I going?

Image
I'm here and there and all over the place but no direction.   I've never been good at goal setting and now retired I  feel all I'm doing is wandering.  I'm the kid in the candy store I want to do it all but don't want to do anything.  Yuk.. I sent apps off today for three more juried shows coming up this spring and summer.  But although I do enjoy doing them my sales haven't been that good and I'm still struggling to figure what to try next that will be that one item that will really catch on and sell.   I need the supplemental income.  Mostly for the future.  Because I divorced late in life I didn't have much of a nest egg of my own.  Sorry to unload, hopefully no one will read this post.  I just needed to vent instead of letting it roll around in my head.  Every post needs a photo.  Here's Fritz from yesterday when I tried to give him a bath.  We found him hiding under the bed.   I think I'll t...

Doodling by the fire

Image
Just a little doodling by the fire this morning.                                                                                                                          It was just a bit chilly in the house this morning, but it's going to be a beautiful day here at the beach.  The sun was shining when we first got up, not a cloud in the sky.   Time for a walk.   I think I'm liking retirement.  I don't have to wait for the weekend to get away for a few days.  Plus I can doodle where ever I am. Hope you are having a great week.  Be sure to do something creative. Thanks for visiting. Hugs Cyndee

Can't contain myself

I am so excited, I'm published.  Cloth Paper Scissors Magazine has printed an article with some of my drawings in the new issue for Sept/Oct 2013.  I got my copy in the mail yesterday, it's a full 2 page spread, page 94, I even got paid for it.  So exciting.  Here's a peek. The article shows two really good shots of my doodles.  As soon as the original artwork is returned to me I will have prints available on Etsy. Everything I read says to just keep submitting your work, don't wait for answers.  This has been a year in the works.  Although they did drop me a note that my work had been accepted within about 2 months but indefinite as to which issue. Today is my last day at my day job, what an exciting way to start my retirement. Thanks for visiting. Hugs Cyndee

For the Birds

The start of a new project. To be doodled.  Such fun I'm having.                                 I'll be back soon with today's progress. Thanks for visiting. Hugs Cyndee

Doodled Converse

Image
My second pair of Converse high tops.  These were a lot smaller then the first pair and because they were for my daughter I could use a little glitter.  Every girl needs a little glitter.   A fun project.  Now on to the next thing to doodle.   I'm working on a couple of picture frames I picked up at the thrift store, a little collage then some doodling.                                                                                                   I'm almost done with my day job, and I can't believe the ideas that are popping up since I don't have the work and commute stress.  I've got three projects in the works and others in the planning.  It is so great knowing I don't have to do it all today I have to...

Events

Image
Wow, summer is filling up fast.  Just added 2 more shows to my summer schedule and now looking into fall events. I just finished my first show with Made In Vancouver USA group I joined.  The first for our new group and a great learning experience.  I can't complain were not great, I learned what I need to make more of.  I sold doodle rocks.  They were just an experiment but a perfect low price item.  The first one went to a child.  I can see I need to make more of these.  Also sold a couple of pendants and some tattoos.  My newest items.   This was my first sale using my new accent color, lime green, I got several compliments and it really made the table pop.  It's amazing though, you think you made so much stuff till you actually lay it out on your table and realize you don't have enough.  So it's back to the studio this weekend.  Good thing I have a couple weeks to catch up before my next sale. Oh and guess what?...
