She Who Doodles

It's football season again and the three grandsons are all playing.  Two in high school and the third in a local lead, he is in middle school this year.  This last game on Friday was especially exciting, not only did their team win but both boys were on the field at the same time.  One on the line the other receiving.  A first for this proud family.  My grandsons with their mom, my daughter.  Mom and dad were really excited to see them both on the field, and both made plays that got them recognized.   Dad is a defensive coach and the younger grandson is usually on the sidelines as ball boy.   The rest of us are in the bleachers cheering them on.        Me, I'm still doodling.  Only one show left this year, you can see the info on my Events Page .   I've been a little discouraged, sales have not been good this year and I can't decide which way to go next.  Hauling all my art around to...

I finished the recycled coffee table just in time for the Recycled Arts Festival.   My first recycled show.  It's unbelievable what people are doing with recyclables these days.  Although I didn't sell the table I did get lots of interest.   Currently I have it posted on the local Craigslist,  it's just to hard to pack it around to art fairs.  A custom ordered wood bracelet for a friend that wanted her logo, a Gryphon, doodled on it.    And this has to be the hottest summer we have had in years, maybe ever.    Far to hot (100 degrees) for sitting in a tent on a paved street all day.   Every one was pretty exhausted after this last Saturday sale in Gresham, OR for their Annual Art Walk.  The crowd was heavy in the morning but by 2 pm it really died down.  This heat has not been good for sales this summer.    One more tent sale this summer.  I think it's time I start searching out o...

Another project, not yet complete is a small bench a friend gave me.  It's been great to have friends on the look out for items I might be able to use.  This bench came from my friend Michelle Lund of Buttons and Shanks . Just a little up date on the WIP last posted.  The fry pan has now become a clock, can't you see it hanging in the kitchen? And the little black box, is still a little black box but embellished and lined with red felt.  Two more items for the recycled art show I'm doing the end of June.  These are projects are fun to shop for and fun to create.  I never know what I might find at the thrift stores.  The weekend is just about over,  Game of Thrones tonite.  Outlander last night, not sure how I felt about that episode,  really dark.  I didn't read the books so have no idea whats coming.  Hope you had a great weekend.  Thanks for visiting. Since I can't decide what color to paint the table before I doodle it I started some other projects.  A girl can never have to many projects in the works at one time. These are all recycled items, a small pan that will be a clock when finished.  A couple of old cobbler shoes that I'm not sure what they will be when finished, although the larger one will be doodled, the smaller one I'm not sure.  I did sell one previously to be used as a business card holder.  The little box will just be refinished with some doodles.  The table, I'm having a block.  Can't decide what colors to paint it before I doodle it.  I've been using multi colors in the past which is still what I want to do, but wanted to use some colors that would fit in with someones home decor better then what I was using.  So much for these projects today,  got a grandsons baseball game later and the sun is shining.  Time to go out and get some of that good old vitamin ...

UGH!!!  Social Media will be my undoing.  I recently took a class on how to use social media to help market my art.  So I've been making changes, searching groups, put myself out there more.  Now I need to double the time I scan thru my FB pages and discovered that it was worth while posting more frequently to Instagram .  Twitter gets caught in the middle somewhere.  And then there is Pinterest , my Etsy shop and this blog.   So for starters I thought I needed to add all the social media icons to my blog but couldn't find any I liked so doodled my own. Fun project put the trick was getting them posted.  Spent a day trying to figure out how to get them the size they needed to be to line up.   Got a little lesson in HTML.  But persevered and as you can see they are neatly in a row and the background is transparent.  You can find just about anything you need to know how to do on You Tube.  Also found a great littl...

Since I haven't been in the need of creating product for sales or art fairs I've been playing around with other forms of art.  There's always new doodles,  but a little mixed media has been fun for a change.  I always enjoy working with Asian themed pieces.   Some coins and chopsticks.   Layers of paper from a book I picked up at the thrift stores free bin.  Then finished with the Chinese character for Happiness.  Yesterday was so nice I sat outside and finished my doodle in green pen.  I'm always looking for something different to doodle on.  This time it's a bangle bracelet.  And Sunday,  what a beautiful day for a drive in the country.  We headed south east of Portland out near Estacada.  What a view,  Mount Hood is always picturesque but Sunday it was in it's prime.   Friday evening was First Friday Art Walk and another beautiful day to be out.  The show at Gallery 360 here in...
