Have you ever had a project on your work desk that you just can't get finished?  We'll this chair has been here since before Christmas, I haven't been happy with it and keep making changes.   My plan is to use it in my booth come summer sales as a display piece.  I was so excited when I bought it because the cane was intact that I failed to notice the broken leg.  So displaying art pieces and pillows is what I will use it for.    I'm joining in over at Julia's Stamping Ground today to see what everyone else is working on.   Hopefully before next Wednesday this will be off my desk.  What's on your Workdesk today? Thanks for visiting. Hugs Cyndee

First stash purchase of the new year

Image
Finally got a bee in my bonnet today as to the direction I want to go with my art sales.  I've learned that I can doodle on just about anything so why not try everything.  There are more and more Recycled Art Fairs and I already use some recycled materials. So I decided I was going to find more treasures to recycle/up-cycle.  I made a trip today to a couple of thrift stores and came home with this stash.   One of the stores in moving to a new location so everything was 50% off, awesome.  If you live in the area you might want to check into the Paws & Claws Thrift Store, it's operated by the SW Washington Humane Society .  Now I am anxious to get started.  The clock needs a new pendulum a new finish and some doodles. The small word box has never been finished.  The coasters just need cleaning up and a doodle added.  Everything will get doodled.  We just got a new addition to our family, we found a little 2 1/2 year old Min...

New year new directions

Image
A fresh new year ahead with lots of new potential.  I'm off to a good start, although I've been dragging a bit till now.  Yesterday I sat down in front of my Happy Light with a wood box in front of me and started layering paper.  The first I have really done a collage/mixed media project for quite a while.  I really enjoyed the project.  I think I needed a little cut and paste therapy.  Its all very earthy looking,  handmade paper, wood veneer, burlap and a leaf from my hydrangea plant.   I didn't prime the box so everything is on the wood which shows thru in some spots.  It really got me going,  today I put the finishing touches on a couple of cards.  I actually put a couple layers of handmade papers on the cards then did a freehand doodle.  It was a little tricky with the layers of textured paper but I was satisfied with the results. I've been wanting to work at combining my craft,  instead of collage or doodl...

Finally Finished

Image
It took me a couple weeks but finally finished the little wood jewel box.   I even had a few polymer clay tiles left over.  I think I will try another, but smaller box with legs.                                                  I decided I would sell the box so have posted to my Etsy shop    http://www.etsy.com/listing/174156626/tiled-and-embellished-wood-jewel-box?ref=shop_home_feat       Time to take the Christmas tree down and put all the decorations away for another year.   Time to think about the direction I want to go with my art in 2014.   Winter sales were not good, not sure which shows I want to try next.  I do know, no more bazaars, or neighborhood street fairs.    I think I tried too hard to come up with product to sell and got to many different things.  I need to narrow it down to maybe 3...

It's Wednesday Already

Image
Time for the weekly What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday.  Follow the link to find out what I am talking about.   http://stamping-ground.blogspot.com/2013/12/whats-on-your-workdesk-wednesday-236.html I'm posting this from my iPad and I still don't like the Blogger app it just doesn't do what my PC will do.  But it is handy.  Can't do without it anymore.   I am working on a little jewel box.  The top is covered with some tiles I made with polymer clay.  Then I embellished it with beads and other found treasures.  The box itself is covered with paper, I may doodle a little around the edges, not sure yet.  It's a piece that has taken on a mind of it's own.  So we shall see where it takes me.   So that's where I am this sunny Wednesday afternoon.   Have a great day, thanks for visiting. Featured Artist

Image
Just a little excitement today I discovered I am the Featured Artist on Dharma Trading Company  website. I had purchased some fabric pens from their website to paint my Toms shoes.  I noticed back in July they were looking for artist submission.  So I sent in a response along with photos then proceeded to forget about it.  You just can't sit and wait for a response every time you submit something. These are the products I bought and tried them all.    Dharma Products Used Tee Juice Fabric Markers - 3 Sizes Identipen Dual Tip Fabric Pens Deco Just Glitter Fabric Markers   I was just so excited I needed to share this with my followers.  Exposure is always a good thing.  Also, this tells me to keep submitting my work.  I get discouraged at times,  I know my work doesn't appeal to everyone, which is fine I understand that,  I do what I like for me.  But it just means I need to reach furt...

More Post Cards from ihanna's swap

Image
It's so exciting to watch the mail.  More post cards have arrived one from the UK, one from Sweden and the others from around the USA. We all have been participating in ihanna's annual postcard swap.  This one is from Sandra in the UK ,  a wintry feel to her card.     Four of these cards came in one day.  What an awesome find in my mail box.  The blue and purple card on the top is made by Nancy from the desert area of California.  To the right of Nancy is a little balance and harmony from Rachel in Florida. Below Rachel is a cute little card from Lorie in Phoenix. To the left of Lorie is a stitched card from Yvonne in Sweden.  The last card to the left with the hikers is from Stephanie in Astoria, NY.  Each card is so unique, lots of collage and stitches.  I must try some stitching on mine next time.  If my count is right I should have just 2 more cards coming.    Sorry I couldn't post a link ...
